Discovering you are unexpectedly pregnant is a shock. We understand. Pregnancy is not what you had planned for your life at this time. But you have options, and one of those is placing your child for adoption. Let us explain the process so you have a better understanding of why choosing adoption could be the best decision for your future.
The Process
Choosing an Agency to Work With
When you work with a licensed adoption agency like New Life Adoptions, you receive full support, including counseling, financial assistance for pregnancy-related needs, and help with medical and legal expenses. We emphasize building a relationship with you so that you are cared for every step of the way.
We provide all our services for an expectant or birth mother free of charge.
Selecting the Family Who Will Raise Your Child
Today, the expectant mother or birth mother (along with the father, if he’s involved) selects the potential adoptive family who will raise their child. You can review profiles of various couples hoping to adopt and meet potential families to find the best match for your child. You choose based on what matters most to you.
Families qualified to adopt through New Life Adoptions are thoroughly screened, including background checks. Our families continue post-placement services and receive adoption training to ensure a smooth transition for everyone involved.
Deciding on the Amount of Contact
If you want to stay connected with your child, we will help you create a plan that works for you and the adoptive family. The following are the three types of plans to consider:
Open Adoption: You stay directly connected with your child and their adoptive family. You can arrange phone calls, letters, and personal visits. Open adoption builds a relationship between you, the adoptive family, and your child.
Semi-Open Adoption: Also known as a mediated adoption, a semi-open adoption may be a good fit if you want more privacy. You still communicate with your child and their adoptive family, but all communication first goes through New Life Adoptions. You stay informed about your child’s well-being while still maintaining personal space.
Closed Adoption: Choose a closed adoption to ensure that your identifying information isn’t shared with the adoptive family. You will have no further contact and will remain completely anonymous.
Closed Adoption

Some women find comfort in having a clear separation, allowing them to move forward with a fresh start. With a closed adoption, the birth mother, the adoptive family, and her child have no contact. While closed adoption was once the standard, many adoption professionals, including New Life Adoptions, encourage at least a small level of openness.
Open Adoption

Both an open and semi-open adoption provide the assurance that your child is loved and cared for. With an open adoption, you and the adoptive family you’ve selected exchange identifying information such as full names, addresses, and phone numbers. A semi-open plan provides communication through our agency, offering a little more privacy for everyone.
