Your Options

It’s hard to believe, but you do have options. Our counselors assist you in making the best decisions for you and your baby. You have several options. You can choose to parent and learn about the available resources or decide to place your child in a loving, 2-parent home through adoption.

We invite you to look at all of your options:

Choosing to Parent

Parenting allows you to build a lifelong relationship with your child and experience the joys of raising them. However, it requires careful preparation and significant lifestyle adjustments.

The benefits of parenthood include a strong, lifelong bond with your child as you watch them grow. You are also the one to make significant life choices for them when they are younger, such as where they go to school, their hobbies, and their faith. They will understand their heritage and family history through relationships with extended family members.

However, raising children is expensive. The need for stability adds financial pressures. It is also emotionally and physically demanding, especially for a single parent. You need a strong support system to come alongside you and share some of the parenting responsibilities.

Placing Your Child for Adoption

Adoption provides your child with a loving, stable home while allowing you to pursue personal goals. Giving your child the life you envision for them can be an empowering choice.

As an expectant mother or birth mother, you have the benefit of selecting the adoptive family. Your child is raised in a loving, 2-parent home of your choice. You can also determine how much contact you wish to have with your child and their adoptive family as they grow.

Placing your child for adoption is a difficult decision, but sometimes the hardest decisions we have to make turn out to be the best. It’s vital to have a strong support network because adoption can cause feelings of grief and loss. It can be emotionally challenging, but we’re here to counsel you as long as you need us.

We have adoption specialists around the state ready to meet with you. All of our adoption services are free of charge.

Temporary Care

Temporary care (such as guardianship or foster care) allows someone else to care for your child temporarily while you work toward stability. It can be a valuable option for the short term.

When you choose guardianship or kinship care, your child remains within your close circle of trust. You have time to improve your circumstances.

However, it can also cause problems within your family dynamics. Those caring for your child may resent your involvement, and your child won’t experience the permanency and stability that you or an adoptive family offers.

Abortion

Having an abortion may seem like a quick and easy solution to your “problem,” but you can face serious consequences following an abortion procedure. Speaking with your healthcare provider beforehand and having a complete physical checkup, including an ultrasound, is essential. You should also be tested for sexually transmitted infections (STIs), as an abortion can cause further complications.

Discuss the restrictions for qualifying for various procedures and the potential for emotional and physical risks with your healthcare provider or a local pregnancy care center.

At New Life Adoptions, we do not refer for abortion.
